When will there be an Aborigine Prime Minister of Australia? |

I say this because there are now Aborigines quite high up the social scale in Australia, Doctors, Professors etc, learned men. I mean who would have believed there would be a black US President less than 150 years after the abolition of slavery and less than 50 years after the famous ' I have a dream' speech by Martin Luther King Jnr. |

mmm... yes, like some people have said, when they go to school regularly they'll be ready, - oh no I forgot, they are bullied and harrassed at schools so that crosses that of the list, I mean, an Aussie being ruled by an Aborigine, the idea's unthinkable, I mean they've only been there thousands of years before the white man came along, the idea of an Aborigine Prime Minister in Australia is about as likely as a woman Prime Minister. |

Mindyx, you have no idea. Aboriginal kids don't go to school even in exclusively aboriginal settlements so don't give me that bullshit about harrassment. One of my daughters went to school with Tania Majer, (look her up) and she was a valued and accepted member of the school community. |

You're not Australian are you? Black Americans are 12 -14% of your population. White fellas managed to murder most of the Kooris and they are now less than 1% (around 0.8 -0.9%) of the population. Just the odds as far as numbers go are very slim. The other reasons make my blood boil, so I won't give you a lesson on the shame of white Australia, except to say that we are the only so called industrialised western country that the U.N. sends aid workers to our indigenous communities, and governments take the 'missions' off the maps (2007-WA government) to stop people seeing the conditions on them. Australia would accept an aboriginal Prime Minister right now if there was a suitable candidate. When more aboriginal kids go to school regularly and grow up to get a decent education so that they can compete for places in politics and society in general, we'll be ready. |

They make up such a small percentage of the population that the chances are very low. We haven't had an Asian, Mediterranean, or Middle Eastern Prime Minister yet, and there are much large numbers of people from those backgrounds in Australia. |
