Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (these towns are on the Goldfields). The activity you are talking about is known as fossicking by the locals and the Western Australian Tourist Commission will help with further details and permits etc, Jules, Australia. |

I would try some of the popular beaches in Perth. People are sure to lose money and jewellery there. |

i think you have to buy a prospecting licence before you do! |

All of the details and suggestions mentioned so far are accurate. Another idea is to get a miniturised, broad spectrum metal detector and attach it to your shoe, so whenever your away from metalic materials (buildings, ground work), turn it on and just walk around and whenever it detects metal within fossicking depth it'll vibrate, flash and sound, or any combo you choose. They can be purchased on the net, and don't cost much at all. |

Try Kalgoorlie, Coolangata, also Mount Newman, my step dad found some there about 15 years ago, you need a prosepecting license to dig for gold of any kind, if it is found without breaking the soil though , you dont.....good luck |

Kalgoolie unless dugged out over the years. Take metal detector with you to discover a pay load! |
