Im not sure of prices or availability in Australia.. Im sure you can find them tho.... but as far as temperment... mastiffs are guard dogs by nature, and as such will be suspicious of people on the property. They will be VERY protective of children and women.. and they will generally Loaf about and sleep alot as they dont require or want too much exercise.

hi how are you try to ring up the canine council 07 32522661 this number is in queensland but they should be able to give you the other states number. ask for the number for english mastiff breeders in your area and then you can go meet with the breeders and veiw the parents and their living conditions ect.i think the cost will vary from $600 to $1200 depending if you want purebred and also if you want the breeding bloodline papers with the pups. goodluck i hope i helped

I paid 1500 US for mine and the show quality goes about 2 grand. This is average in the states. They are good family dogs and they absolutely are not hunting dogs in any way shape or form unless their prey is bowl of kibble. The make good watch/guard dogs but they are not as good as other guarding breeds but their size usually means that they don't have to be. Hope this helps. Choose your breeder carefully or you could be asking for toruble in terms of health. Make sure you meet the parents.
